Feeling Like You’re Failing

By Alex Lesage

Hey…

I know that feeling.

The one where you’re sitting there thinking:

“I’m not getting this right.”

You’re trying.
You’re showing up.
You’re doing more than most people see.

And somehow…

it still feels like it’s not enough.

You replay the moments.

The one where you lost patience.
The one where you said the wrong thing.
The one where everything escalated and you couldn’t stop it.

And it sticks.

Because the wins?

They don’t hit the same way.

But the hard moments…

they stay loud.

Here’s the part you don’t always see.

You’re doing this in real time.

No script.
No perfect system.
No guarantee that what worked yesterday will work today.

You’re adjusting on the fly…

while carrying your own stress…

your own exhaustion…

your own doubts.

And you’re still showing up.

That doesn’t look like failure.

That looks like someone in it.

Someone trying to figure it out…

without walking away from it.

You’re not supposed to get every moment right.

That’s not the standard.

Because even in the moments that don’t go well…

something still happens.

Your child sees you come back.
Sees you reset.
Sees you try again.

That matters more than getting it perfect.

The truth?

This is heavy.

It’s not a light lift.

And some days…

it’s going to feel like you’re behind.

Like you’re missing something.

Like everyone else has it figured out.

They don’t.

They just don’t show it the same way.

You’re not failing.

You’re in the middle of it.

And the fact that you’re questioning yourself…

means you care enough to look at it.

Most people don’t even get that far.

So when that thought hits again…

“I’m failing at this.”

Pause for a second.

And look at what’s actually happening.

You’re still here.
Still trying.
Still showing up.

That’s not failure.

That’s the work.

No Shame. No Pity. No Cure Needed.
